Hunters and Jumpers at CBS exists to give all horses a second chance. One of the main focuses of our group is to buy horses from underprivileged homes (underweight, abused, unwanted pasture ornaments, horses no longer wanted/used, etc.). We then send them through a rehabilitation stage (whether physical, mental, or both) where they are cared for by the main trainer and a select few others until they become trusting of their new environment. Ground work training and under saddle training starts next, where they become comfortable with people becoming a huge part of their everyday lives. Our horses are in a sort of "trial training" this is where we decide which discipline the horse is best suited for ( riding lessons, hunters , jumpers, combined training, beginner rider all around, trails, or if he/she is just the type of horse that just needs one person to love them and spend time to earn their trust. The horse then begins, after however long it takes to ready them for their upcoming job, to be a working member of our farm (working as a lesson or show horse, or staying in the personal trainers care ( for more sensitive horses)) . . . and then, once trained to a certain point in the area best suited for them, they either become a long term commitment of the barn, or go up for sale so they may be sold into another show barn, or another loving family home.
